I am in need of a new cane and would like to get one that is really thin and will be small when you fold it up. where would I get this kind of cane? I tried to look on maxiaids and ILA but they don't really decribe their stuff well and I am not sure if they have any like I want.

try www.nfb.org. I'm not sure if they'll have what you're looking for, but it's worth a shot.

More specifically, what kind of cane are you looking for? I know you said one that was really small when you fold it up. The ones that seem to get the smallest are telescoping canes. I tend not to like those, but I know they work well for some people. Ambutech has good folding canes, but I don't know if those get as small as it sounds like you're wanting. Still, they're definitely quality.

Try rehabmart.com. They have lots of different canes in both light graphite and short folding lengths

Why don't people like telescopic canes. I wanted one but have never used one. I've use a folding one. Also where can I buy a telescopic cane. They are hard to find. All I find is folding ones.

I think NFB sells telescoping canes. The reason I personally don't like them is that they collapse too easily. No matter how tightly I fit the joints into place, it seems to collapse at the most inopportune times. I am a very fast walker, and I think because of that speed, the telescoping joints can't stand up to hitting anything with much force.

I want a folding can. A lady that worked at my school had this one that was verry lite and narrow and would fold up a bit shorter in length so she could put it in her purse or bag at work.

ah, you could be talking about the ID canes. I've seen them around, but only at our local braille institute. I'm not sure where to get them online...

ID cane is not for every day use, it can not stand up to what a average cane could.
